A normal drill operates using electricity that alternates and drives a motor by moving an armature hand. This powers the drill bit to rotate at super high speeds drilling holes to precision in the surface intended. On the other hand cordless drills operate using battery power and hence direct current but they do not power through surfaces as normal drills do because they are not based on AC current. Rather they instantly build up speed and maintain it as long as the battery power remains. Cordless drills are very popular amongst tradesmen and hobbyists.
